Spectra EQ — free Windows system equalizer

A 10-band graphic EQ and a live 20 Hz to 10 kHz spectrum. Turn the knobs and every sound you play can change: YouTube, games, Spotify, and the rest.

Spectra EQ needs one extra free download, Equalizer APO. Install that once, tick your Speakers, reboot, then press EQ ON. Without it, the knobs cannot change system sound.

What Spectra EQ does

Spectra EQ is Stackdrop’s desktop equalizer. The top of the window is a live spectrum of what is playing. The bottom is a 10-band EQ from 20 Hz through 10 kHz, plus preamp and master. Each band has a knob and a slider. Hover any control for a tooltip. Scroll for 1 dB. Right-click a band to set it back to 0.

Make it change all sound

  1. Download Spectra EQ and Equalizer APO. Open Spectra. The spectrum should move when music plays.
  2. Install Equalizer APO, tick your Speakers, and reboot. Windows has to install it separately. It does not come inside Spectra EQ.
  3. Open Spectra EQ again, press EQ ON, and move a slider. YouTube, games, and other playback follow the curve.
  4. Press EQ OFF to return the sound to flat.

Equalizer APO is the Windows audio effect. Download Equalizer APO (official 1.4.2, 64-bit), install it, tick Speakers, and reboot. The driver cannot be hidden inside Spectra itself.

Build it yourself

The source download includes Eq.py and build_exe.bat. On Windows, put them in the same folder and run build_exe.bat. The window title should say 2.6.17-icon. Replace SpectraEQ.exe in the equalizer folder so the download button serves the new build. Equalizer APO stays a separate download.
